Speaking your heart out in Filipino

Filipinos are an emotional batch. They give generous praise and when there's something they do not like, they just might as well say nothing or say it in a sugar-coated way. That is because they do not like hurting feelings. So if you see, hear, taste or smell something praise-worthy or otherwise, do not be shy to use the following words / phrases:

That's beautiful - Maganda yan
That's good - Mabuti yan
That's delicious - Masarap yan
That smells good - Mabango yan

You are beautiful - Maganda ka
You are kind - Mabait ka
You are sweet - Malambing ka

Happy - Masaya
Sad - Malungkot
Beautiful - Maganda
Ugly - Pangit
Good - Mabuti
Bad - Masama
Delicious - Masarap
Not Delicious - Hindi Masarap
Smells good - Mabango
Smells bad - Mabaho
Sweet (food) - Matamis
Sweet (person) - Malambing
Kind - Mabait
